Cedar cladding on the one wall that could take it, and a low sectional that never breaks the sightline to the window. The beams got a warm stain so the ceiling reads as a plane, not a set of lines.

Nine hundred square feet under a pitched roof, planned so nothing has one job.

A single volume with a vaulted ceiling, one structural wall and no hallway. The brief was two people, one dog, and friends for dinner twice a week. We zoned it with floor level and color instead of partitions, so the ceiling stays whole.
Room by room

Cedar cladding on the one wall that could take it, and a low sectional that never breaks the sightline to the window. The beams got a warm stain so the ceiling reads as a plane, not a set of lines.

A dark island doubles as the dining table when the folding doors are open. Everything tall lives on the back wall so the room keeps its ceiling height where you stand.

A slatted oak screen marks the end of the kitchen without closing it. Four chairs in a deep teal, a table small enough to move, and a pendant hung low so the corner feels like its own room after dark.

The bed sits on a raised platform with drawers cut into the risers. Upholstered tiles in sage and tan replace a headboard, and the brass line drawing on the charcoal wall is painted, not wallpapered.
